Poor Mans Prime Rib

This poor man’s rib is a delicious main course, perfect for holidays and elegant banquets, and will keep your budget in check. Plan a full meal for half the price and still get tender cuts of delicious meat.

Ingredients

 

  • 3 pounds sirloin eye round
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How to make poor man’s ribs

Poor Mans Prime Rib

Preheat oven to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C). Season roast with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder; and place in a baking or casserole dish. Do not cover or add water.Put the roast in the preheated oven. Reduce temperature to 475 degrees F (245 degrees C). Roast for 21 minutes (seven minutes per pound), then turn off the oven and let the roast rest in the hot oven for 2 1/2 hours. Under no circumstances should you open the door during this time!
Take the roast out of the oven. The internal temperature should have reached at least 65°C (145°F).Cut into thin slices to serve.
