For the Wontons:

  • ½ pound ground pork
  • 2 ounces shrimp (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine (or Shaoxing wine)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon green onions (chopped)
  • 24 wonton wrappers

For the Soup:

  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup baby bok choy (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (minced)
  • Optional: mushrooms, spinach, or carrots for extra vegetables

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Wontons:
    • In a bowl, mix pork, shrimp, soy sauce, rice wine, ginger, and green onions until well combined.
    • Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold into a triangle, and press to seal. Bring the two ends together and seal with a dab of water.

    • Bring a pot of water to a boil. Gently drop in the wontons and cook for about 3-5 minutes, until they float to the surface.
  3. Prepare the Soup:
    • In a separate pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Add in sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and bok choy. Let simmer for 3 minutes until the bok choy softens.
    • Add the cooked wontons to the broth and let everything simmer together for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Serve:
    • Ladle the soup into bowls, garnishing with extra green onions or sesame oil if desired.
