Creamy Smothered Pork Chops Recipe
Ingredients:
- For the Pork Chops:
- 4 bone-in pork chops
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- For the Creamy Sauce:
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Pork Chops:
- Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.
- In a shallow dish, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Dredge each pork chop in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Cook the Pork Chops:
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat.
- Add the pork chops to the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Sauce:
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until they start to caramelize, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Smother the Pork Chops:
- Return the pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the creamy sauce.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered, until the pork chops are cooked through and the sauce has thickened, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure the sauce doesn’t stick to the skillet.
- Serve:
- Spoon the creamy sauce over the pork chops and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
