Creamy Smothered Pork Chops Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Pork Chops:
    • 4 bone-in pork chops
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 tablespoons butter
  • For the Creamy Sauce:
    • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 cup chicken broth
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pork Chops:
    • Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.
    • In a shallow dish, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    • Dredge each pork chop in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  2. Cook the Pork Chops:
    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat.
    • Add the pork chops to the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until they start to caramelize, about 5-7 minutes.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
    • Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
    • Stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Smother the Pork Chops:
    • Return the pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the creamy sauce.
    • Reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered, until the pork chops are cooked through and the sauce has thickened, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure the sauce doesn’t stick to the skillet.
  5. Serve:
    • Spoon the creamy sauce over the pork chops and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
    • Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
