Homemade Ranch Dressing
Ingredients:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup buttermilk (more if needed for consistency)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tablespoon dried)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill (or 1/2 tablespoon dried)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (or 1/2 tablespoon dried)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Mix Base Ingredients:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.
- Add Herbs and Seasonings:
- Stir in the lemon juice, parsley, dill, chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Adjust Consistency:
- If the dressing is too thick, add more buttermilk a tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
- Refrigerate:
- Transfer the dressing to a jar or an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve:
- Use as a salad dressing, dip for vegetables, or a topping for sandwiches and wraps.
Tips:
- Custom Flavors: Adjust the herbs and spices to your liking, adding more garlic or fresh herbs for a more robust flavor.
- Storage: Store in the refrigerator for up to one week. Shake or stir well before each use.
- Vegan Option: Use vegan mayonnaise and substitute the sour cream and buttermilk with plant-based alternatives.
