Cheesy Bacon and Ground Beef Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes (about 4-5 medium potatoes)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Season the Meat: Add the thyme, rosemary, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the cooked ground beef mixture. Stir to combine.
- Prepare the Casserole Dish: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth. Add the thinly sliced potatoes to the mixture and stir to coat.
- Assemble the Casserole: In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the potato mixture. Add a layer of the ground beef mixture, then sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Repeat with the remaining potato mixture, ground beef, and top with the remaining cheese.
- Add Bacon: Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top of the casserole.
- Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
