Ingredients

  • Base Batter:
    • All-purpose flour
    • Granulated sugar
    • Buttermilk (or milk with vinegar as a substitute)
    • Baking powder
    • Salt
    • Eggs
    • Vanilla extract
    • Canola oil and softened butter
  • Cinnamon Swirl:
    • Ground cinnamon
    • Brown sugar
    • Molasses (optional, for added depth)
  • Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:
    • Melted butter
    • Granulated sugar
    • Additional cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare Batter: Combine dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another, then mix together. Separate a portion of the batter to create the cinnamon swirl by mixing in cinnamon, brown sugar, and molasses.
  2. Layer and Swirl: Pour half the plain batter into a greased loaf pan, add dollops of the cinnamon batter, and swirl. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  3. Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45–50 minutes, checking with a toothpick.
  4. Coat and Serve: Once baked, coat the warm loaf in melted butter and roll it in the cinnamon-sugar mixture for a crunchy, sweet crust.

This bread is best served warm or at room temperature and can be stored for a few days or frozen for later enjoyment. For more customization, try adding chocolate chips, nuts, or swapping out ingredients like molasses for honey.
