Here’s a classic apple pie recipe that is sure to impress with its delicious filling and flaky crust:

Ingredients

For the Pie Crust:
•2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
•1 teaspoon salt
•1 teaspoon sugar
•1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
•6-8 tablespoons ice water
For the Filling:
•6-7 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp are a good mix)
•¾ cup granulated sugar
•¼ cup brown sugar
•2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
•1 tablespoon lemon juice
•1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
•¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
•2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
•1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

1.Prepare the Crust:
•In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough begins to come together.
•Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least an hour.
2.Prepare the Filling:
•Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
•In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with the sugars, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well coated.
3.Assemble the Pie:
•Roll out one disc of dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie dish. Transfer the dough to the pie dish and trim the edges.
•Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, and dot with pieces of butter.
•Roll out the second disc of dough and place it over the filling. Trim, seal, and crimp the edges. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
•Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
4.Bake the Pie:
•Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
•Let the pie cool for at least an hour before serving to allow the filling to set.
Enjoy.
