Homemade Picadillo with Flour tortillas

Mexican picadillo. This quick and easy dinner recipe is made with minimal ingredients. Minced meat and potatoes are cooked in tomato sauce. Serve this dish with rice tortillas and fresh flour for a complete meal.

Ingredients :

For Picadillo :

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 to 2 pounds ground beef
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 1 can green or fresh beans (optional)
  • Small onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 serrano chiles, minced
  • 1 teaspoon kosher Salt, add more if necessary
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic oregano, rubbed between hands
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 teaspoons paprika
  • Pepper to taste

For Flour tortillas:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt,
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup warm water

Directions :

For Picadillo :

Add the evoo to a skillet add potatoes cook until browned and cooked through, remove from pan. Add ground beef, garlic and onions and spices cook until browned add tomatoes and Serrano cook until thick add potatoes and simmer 5 minutes and done!

For Flour tortillas:

1. Mix all the dry ingredients
2. Add the vegetable shortening and mix well with the dry ingredients
3. Add warm water until the consistency of the dough is reached
4. Lay the dough before preparation about 10 minutes in a Ziploc bag set aside at least 1 hour.
5. After resting, form balls, roll out and fry in a pan.
Turn around when you see bubbles.
