Ingredients:
- 8 cups mini pretzel twists or squares
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup chopped nuts (such as pecans or walnuts)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare Caramel Coating:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and corn syrup, stirring until the mixture comes to a boil. Let it boil for 5 minutes without stirring.
- Add Vanilla and Baking Soda:
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will bubble up, so stir carefully.
- Coat Pretzels:
- Place the pretzels in a large mixing bowl. Pour the caramel mixture over the pretzels, tossing to coat them evenly. Add the chopped nuts and mix well.
- Bake:
- Spread the coated pretzels in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating.
- Cool:
- Remove the pretzels from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet.
- Serve:
- Once cooled, break apart any clumps and serve the sweet and savory caramelized pretzel bites.
